December 22, 2015   |   Proptiger

Omens, good or bad, seem to pervade all spheres of human life. Interestingly, they play a critical role when signing a real estate deal. For instance, a perfectly good deal can get blown away at the appearance of a crow or you can earn a double bonanza at the sight of a little white butterfly. Whether there is little or no truth behind these superstitions, most home buyers will tread carefully around them because a large amount of money is at stake.

So consider this list carefully before you ink the deal:

Black cats

This is considered to be a bad omen, worldwide. Whether you are heading for signing a deal or some other important work, you would not want a black cat to cross your path. If the unfortunate does happen, people are known to reschedule the work.

The 13th floor

Another commonly known omen, most of the building across the world, do not have a floor number 13, as it is considered to bring bad luck. The 13th floor is replaced by 12A followed by floor number 14. Many developers in India are of the view that home-seekers and visitors get uncomfortable by the presence of this particular number. Hence, developers use an alphanumeric number instead. Even plots, streets, floors, and towers avoid this unlucky number.

Swarm of bees

If you see a swarm of bees hovering on top of your house or building, it is known to be a sign of a house fire.

A solitary crow

Though having a crow sitting on your balcony is seen as the arrival of mails or guests, a single crow appearing on the house while you are closing the deal is considered a bad sign.

Umbrella

Though umbrella is a necessity when moving out of the house when it rains or even when the sun is shinning, one should never open it before stepping out of the porch. Opening an umbrella indoors is not a good sign.

Don't drop that picture

Decorating the walls of your home with priceless family pictures can be a perfect idea to feel at home. But, take care to see these do not fall while you are selling off the place. It can bring bad luck.

White butterfly

A white butterfly is a lucky sign, bringing good fortune in all business dealings including real estate. So, seeing a white butterfly when you are about to ink the deal, consider this as a good sign.

Frogs on the doorstep

A frog croaking on your doorstep just when you have decided to sell off the house means you are in for a lot of money. The amphibian is considered a good omen in many cultures across the world.

Peas in a pod

Finding nine peas in a pod suggests a good start. So if you have found nine peas in a pod before signing the house deal, it will surely bring you luck.

A trophy blackbird's nest

The presence of a bird's nest on the roof is normally discouraged but if it is a blackbird then you may be in for good luck. Don't shoo it away.
