5 Infra Projects That Will Drive Ahmedabad Real Estate

A subsequent report by PropTiger DataLabs shows Gujarat's Ahmedabad real estate has become the centre of attraction for investors as well as home buyers. However, the sixth-largest city of Gujarat has yet to tap its full potential as far as real estate development is concerned. Major upcoming and under-construction infrastructure projects in the city are expected to boost real estate in the city in the times to come.

PropGuide lists five such projects that would make property in Ahmedabad even more lucrative in the coming months:

The proposed Dholera International Airport near Navgam which has got an in-principle approval from the Union Civil Aviation Ministry in January this year will boost real estate in the city. The city's growing textile industry and other businesses attract heavy air traffic, and the existing Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport may alone not be able to serve the future rise in numbers.

The Ahmedabad Metro Link, the work on which started in March last year, would improve transport facilities in the city upon completion. The work on Phase-I is expected to be complete by 2018. The project will bring a sea change in the way people travel in Ahmedabad, making real estate more lucrative. National capital Delhi is a proof how a Metro network can make travelling in a city an enjoyable experience, increasing the value of its real estate at the same time. 

Ahmedabad is close to the Mandal-Behcaraji and Dholera special investment regions (SIR) . A Chinese Industrial Park, with an investment of $1 billion, will also be set up in Sanand. Apart from boosting businesses, these would fuel fresh demand for real estate in the city.

About 62 per cent of the area in Gujarat is covered within the influence area of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) . Of the eight states and two union territories through which it will pass, Gujarat is the first state that has started the groundwork for the project.

Inaugurated in 2012, the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project is an innovative project in urban regeneration. Apart from beautifying the city, the walkways and eating joints along the riverfront will attract a large number of tourists too.
