Your life at home may be convenient for you. However, when you show your apartment or ready to move in flat in India to a prospective buyer, you need to take care of certain loose ends to help the homebuyer view the resale property in India in its entirety. There are numerous ways in which you can upgrade your home and not all of them are expensive. Depending on the time you have at hand the amount you are willing to spend, you can upgrade your for-sale home.

Creating space

Do you have wooden partitions between two rooms or curtains to separate a part of the drawing room from the lounge space? You should pull down these partitions and open up the space in the resale apartment in India. If yours is an open kitchen with a kitchen island, you can knock the latter down as well if there are ample cabinets in the kitchen to hold the pots and pans. Homebuyers prefer to live in spacious areas and this would help to create some added space in your apartment for sale.

Fix the bathrooms and kitchens

You can change the taps or get them repaired to prevent leaks for making them look appealing to buyers. If your bathroom has a geyser, make sure it is in working condition. Employ a few people to work on cleaning these rooms of grime and grease. You should spray insecticides in drains, nooks and corners. Make sure the tiles have been cleaned with soap water to make them sparkle. These tasks do not cost much and can be completed within a day.

Paint the home

Paint your home in neutral colors such as beige, white, lime yellow and peach as they look bright and reflect a lot of light. The cost of painting may be a little on the higher side, but it will attract a higher price for the flat, as it will look like a new apartment in the locality. You will recover whatever amount you have spent.

Changing the light fixtures

You should replace all tubes and incandescent bulbs with LEDs and CFLs which produce a lot of light, are long lasting and do not consume much electricity. Bulbs of various shapes such as tubes and rings are available which look smart in a modern home. Make sure you place the bulbs strategically in order to give the impression that the rooms are well-lit even when it is quite dark.

Doing up the garden

Every home owner aspires to have a garden at home. However, most Indians have been robbed of this delight because of apartment culture taking over. Nevertheless, within apartments too, it is possible to have a well-pruned garden. You can set up a little space in the veranda or terrace where myriad flower bearing potted plants can be kept. Buy decorative terracotta pots so that the colors of flowers are complemented well.

You can also have a small patch of greenery by your garage with these potted plants. Ensure that the housekeeping staff clears dead leaves and litter from the curb to your home. It would increase your home's appeal.
