Changing Tack: Discounts, Offers Make It Auspicious For Young Home Buyers In India

While business across segments wait for the festival season for major sales, the trend to invest during a particular period may be changing. This is especially true of the real estate sector in India. A recent study by a real estate services firm pointed out that home buyers in India no longer wait for the festive season to make their purchase decision. With a drastic change in the age group of home buyers in the recent times (from mid-50s to mid-20s) , the focus is actually shifting from an auspicious time to taking the right decision. Young buyers today like to make informed choices and focus on better bargaining opportunities, the study adds.

However, realty advisors expect the trend of investing in property in India during the festive season to continue.

“Festive season always brings cheer to the real estate market. Many take a decision to buy a property on an auspicious day. We expect that the market will show uptick during this season, too,” says Ankur Dhawan, Chief Business Officer (Resale) , PropTiger.com. “The immediate fallout of this will be reduced sales in the following months to festival season,” he adds.
