CREDAI Conclave To Push For Ease Of Doing Business

With an aim to highlight the contributions of the real estate sector in the economy, builders' body CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India) will be holding its yearly summit, CREDAI Conclave 2015. Slated to be held on December 16-17 in New Delhi, the summit aims to address issues such as a single-window clearance for projects, skill development in real estate, challenges related to environment and forests clearances and labour issues.

The body will emphasise on the need for government policies to enable ease of doing business to drive growth for the sector

Getamber Anand, president, CREDAI National, said that real estate sector had a multiplier impact on over 250 ancillary industries and for India to achieve a long lasting and sustainable socio-economic development, it was imperative that the improvement of the sector was taken up on a priority basis. This, he said, impacted India's credibility in the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Index.

“This conclave is expected to address all the fundamental hurdles faced by the sector and analyse its economic impact," Anand added.

Although recently India improved its ranking in the Ease of Doing Business Index, a complex approval system for realty projects is still a drag. Multiple regulations and approvals delays projects, and thus increase the buying cost to the customer.

Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu will be the chief guest at the conclave. Along with Naidu, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya, Minister for Environment and Forests Shri Prakash Javadekar will address the summit. Chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Gujarat would also attend the conclave.

More than 1,000 delegates from across India are expected to participate in the conclave.
