Delhi Govt Digitises Land Records, Launches Portal
In a move to digitise land records, the Delhi government on February 13 launched the online portal of Delhi Archives. The website, www.archives.delhi.gov.in, will give access to centuries-old land records of the national capital.
According to Delhiās Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the online portal would bring transparency in land ownership in the national capital. "The main objective of this project is to facilitate the access of archival and property records of more than 200 years old to the general public and research scholars for search of specific information and records," Sisodia said.
The government said the web portal of Delhi Archives was a part of the Project of Digitisation and Micro-filming of Archival Records which was initiated by the department in 2017. Under this project, nearly four crore pages of land records will be digitised and microfilmed in 30 months and would be gradually uploaded on the site. The state government till date has digitised over 1.60 crore land records of which nearly 60 pages of records have been uploaded on the newly launched web portal.
