Developers to Build Roads to Townships

No need to worry about accessibility while buying a house in Gurgaon's newly developed areas. Property developers building residential complexes in the city can now be awarded contracts for the construction of main roads according to the master plan so as to provide connectivity to the new housing projects. Developers can approach the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) to get contract for construction of the projected roads in the newly carved out sectors as per the Master Plan 2021. On Friday, three developers - DLF, Bestech and Vatika - were allowed to construct 14 km of National Highway No. 8 to connect sectors 81 to 86. These builders are developing more than a dozen townships and high-rises. They will also spend about Rs 47 crore on the construction of roads leading to their housing projects. Huda, which is supposed to provide infrastructure such as main roads, trunk sewerage and storm water drainage channels in the new sectors, will pay these developers for constructing roads on its behalf. According to superintending engineer Pankaj Kumar, Bestech would construct 2.01 km starting from NH-8 to its project for Rs 7.02 crore. While DLF has been awarded contract to build 5.40 km for Rs 18.72 crore Vatika will construct 6.70 km for Rs 21.84 crore. "For rest of the roads in these sectors, Huda is in the process of planning construction," he said. Huda collects external development charges for providing these facilities from the developers, who in turn charge the same from property buyers.
