Direct Metro To Connect Gurgaon With Faridabad

December 27, 2018   |   Proptiger

Here is good news for the commuters who travel between Gurgaon and Faridabad. Soon a Metro route will allow them to travel directly between the two cities without taking a detour to Central Secretariat. At a recent event, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar said that the Faridabad-Gurgaon Metro route would be operational by 2021. The 30-km elevated route would be built at a cost of Rs 5,900 crore.

After receiving an in-principle approval from Central and state governments, the detailed project report for this route will now be completed in the next six months.

The planned route will start at the Bata Chowk and terminate at the HUDA City Centre Metro Station. There would be eight stations on this route – Bata Chowk, Bhadkal Enclave, Pali Crusher Zone, Bhati Mines, Mandi, Sushant Lok Sector 54, Sector 45 and HUDA City Centre.

There are also plans to connect Greater Faridabad with Greater Noida at later stages.

At present, Faridabad is connected to the Delhi Metro network via Violet Line, which runs between Kashmere Gate in Delhi and Ballabgarh in Faridabad.

Impact on real estate

Once the route between Gurgaon and Faridabad becomes operational, the direct impact would be on the property markets of both the regions. At present, residents of the localities, through which the Metro would pass, are dependent on shuttle bus services, shared-autos, cabs and state-run buses for transportation. However, with the Metro, those working in Gurgaon could look for affordable property options in Faridabad, too. Faridabad’s property prices are almost 40 per cent less than that of the prevailing prices in Gurgaon. Also, the Metro connectivity in the interiors of Gurgaon will also boost its real estate market as the connectivity is limited to private vehicles in few areas such as sectors 51 and 52, Sohna Road, etc,.
