Devesh Verma, 29 years, IT Professional, Gurgaon

Devesh Verma is an IT professional living in Gurgaon. He loves reading books and interacting with people. He has recently moved into a new apartment in Sector 15, Gurgaon with his wife Megha. Home is a place where he seeks ultimate peace of mind. Excerpts from an interview:

PropGuide: Describe your new home for our readers? Devesh Verma: This is a 2BHK apartment on the tenth floor of Premier Urban in Part 2, Sector 15, Gurgaon. It is a small society with 160 apartments. The flat is sun-facing, which brings positive vibes to our home. For me, this home is the place where I seek ultimate peace of mind, relax, and spend quality time with my wife.

PropGuide: How did you find this home? Devesh Verma: I booked this home three years ago but got possession just two months back. My extensive research on properties helped me reach a builder from whom, I directly bought the apartment. This property was right for me as it is in the heart of Gurgaon. It is close to all basic amenities including school, bus stand, metro station, hospital, and others. I had the option to buy a bigger apartment in faraway locations. But, I chose not to. I always prefer locations that are peaceful but then these locations should be well connected to the basic amenities and infrastructure.

PropGuide: What made you buy a new home? Devesh Verma: I felt that I was unnecessarily paying a certain amount as my rent every month. If I buy a home, I can utilise that money to pay for the property, of which, I will be the owner. And, eventually, my money will grow as an investment.

PropGuide: How much money did you spend on it? How did you manage it? Devesh Verma: This property costed me Rs 60 lakh. I used my savings and also took a loan to buy this property.

PropGuide: Share with our readers your buying experience? Devesh Verma: Buying the home was not at all an easy process. I had to make rounds of the agents and dealers for a long time and even spend my weekends going around for property visits. Many a times, we visited properties that did not suit my requirements. During the course of property search, I made a mistake of delaying the purchase for two months. This delay caused me a loss of Rs 3 lakh.

PropGuide: Is this your dream home or you aspire for a better space? Devesh Verma: Of course, I aspire for a better home in future. A home which is more spacious and has greenery around, just like a villa or a bungalow.

PropGuide: What is your advice to new home buyers? Devesh Verma: When planning to buy a residential property, zeroing on the locality is the first step. If you want live in a developed area, then do not go to a place far away from the city. Look for a property with a futuristic design. Ensure you visit the sample apartments before buying the property. Always opt for builder that offers quality services and has experience. Do not compromise on the home you finally choose, because of money constraints and focus more on the quality rather than the size of the apartment.
