#ChildrensDay: Home Buying Can Be A Child's Play, Literally
For a homebuyer with children, the purchase process gets even more complicated. While you can't force your choices on them in the matter (remember, they are an equal stakeholder) , involving them in the process is equally tough. However, your children can be very helpful in making a purchase decision. They can identify nuances of a property that adults may miss. With a fully different perspective, children can actually be of a great help while selecting a property.
Take them on board
Remember, home hunting is a long, arduous and challenging process, which may require a lot of travel. It may be tiresome and boring for children in equal proportions. Also, leaving their current home may not seem like a good idea to them. However, once you zero in on some suitable properties and want to take a final call, your children can surely help you weigh the merits and demerits of a home. As your children and future owners, they must have a say.
Prepare the child
Before taking the children along, prepare them for property visits. Your child's playing tricks might be entertainment for you but any damage to a property due to that may cost you. Ensure your children don't end up vandalising a property in any form. If you are visiting an under-constructed property, make sure your child does not play with equipment lying there and stays away from the edges of the building. If you are visiting a home that is already occupied, ensure your children conduct themselves well. Young children might be a distraction to the real estate agent as well the owner. You cannot actively check a property if you are busy tending to the kids.
Kid's zone
Once the decision to buy a particular home is made, make sure you get the child's opinion on board. The idea of being a stakeholder in the process will keep them engaged. Introduce the child to the room picked for them and ask for their opinion. Your young ones will have their own views on the decoration and other nuances.
