Being such an important part of almost every Indian household, it becomes important to design your Puja room in the best possible manner, giving it all the attention it deserves. We have compiled some of the best Puja room ideas for you in this blog post, which will help you beautify your worship place. Read on:

Placement: The ideal location for a Puja Room is in the quietest corner of the home. As you would want minimum distractions while praying or meditating, it is important to ensure that the area around the Puja room is quiet and unruffled. Avoid setting up the Puja room close to the living or dining area as such places witness a lot of movement and can be quite noisy at times.

Vaastu: As per Vaastu guidelines, a Puja room is best set up in such a way that while praying, you should be facing towards north-east. It is also said that the Puja room should never be facing towards the south or south-east, so you should design it accordingly. A compass will come in handy while designing your Puja room as per Vaastu principles.

Idols: When placing idols in your Puja room, always remember to ensure that the idols are facing the Puja room and are not placed against each other. Also ensure that none of the idols are placed on the ground; as a token of respect, it is important to place every statue on a raised platform, or a shelf which is above ground level. You can even group the statues in a small Mandir made using marble or wood, whichever goes well with the existing decor of your Puja room. It is also a good idea to have a Puja thali in place right opposite the statues, so as to worship those using incense sticks, lamps, etc.

Space: Depending on the amount of space that you have, you can set up a Puja room which best suits your home’s layout. For bungalows and independent houses which have ample amount of space, a full room can be dedicated to worshipping and meditation, with enough space for the entire family to gather and pray together. However, smaller homes need to make the best possible use of the limited available space by means of a self-standing Puja cabinet or shelves and racks which have enough space for the idols and other Puja items.
