In A First, Delhi Will Home Deliver Stamp Papers
Till March, people of Delhi could go online and make payments for buying stamp papers. After making the payment, it was necessary to visit a notary to get the actual paper though. As the city attempts to provide greater ease of doing business, it has tried to change this process now.
In April, Delhi’s revenue department launched a facility that enables citizens to take a printout of stamp paper worth up to Rs 500. As soon as the payment is made, a printable page would appear. Press on the print document button, and voila! With this, the national capital has become the first city in the country to have such a system in place.
Of the 50,000 stamp papers that are issued in Delhi every day, 49,000 are of denominations of up to Rs 500.
In case you are buying stamp papers worth over Rs 500, you will have to pay Rs 48 additionally, and the document will be home delivered to you in a matter of two days. In the days to come, the department is also planning to launch an express delivery system for stamp papers of high value. Using this facility that would require you to pay an additional charge, you would be able to get stamp papers of high denominations delivered at your doorstep within the same day.
For sale, purchase, transfer of building, land, etc., sale deeds are executing using non-judicial stamp papers, which may range from Rs 5 to Rs 25,000 in value. Also, for rental agreements, affidavits, loan documents, non-judicial stamp paper are used. For instance, a stamp paper of Rs 50 in value is used to create rent agreements in Delhi. For processing home loan related documents, stamp paper of Rs 100 is used.
