November 02 2015   |   Proptiger

He is Indian cinema's King of Hearts, often known by his proverbial name 'Raj'. The perfect lover, the quintessential romantic and a great entertainer, Shah Rukh Khan is not only Bollywood's biggest star, but also the man who wins hearts. Often called 'The Badshaah' or 'King Khan' for his dream run at the box office, Shah Rukh Khan is also the actor known for great taste in living. His house 'Mannat' in Mumbai's upscale Bandra is not just a beautiful celebrity bungalow with a stunning view of the Arabian Sea but is also a landmark for Bollywood fans.

In reel life, too, Shah Rukh Khan's homes were quirky, grand or magical. On his birthday today, November 2, PropGuide looks at five houses that are as memorable as his films:

Baadshah - The Magical House

What do you expect from the house of a wannabe detective? Beds that merge into walls, flying doors and walls that don a different façade everyday! Sounds like a modern-day smart home, right? Shah Rukh Khan's house in Baadshah was a sorcerer's paradise!

Don- The Glass Palace

Don, Shah Rukh Khan's character in the movie, lived in a palatial house with ample light, luxurious interiors and stunning sea view. And while police was at wits' end to nab him, there was no way anyone would escape his eye, especially as the house had transparent glasses as walls!

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum- The Royal Mansion

An adopted son that lived the life of a prince, in short, is the story of this magnum opus. However, what is also central to the plot is the palatial house Shah Rukh lived in. With a helipad for transport needs, vases more expensive than a house in Chandni Chowk and manicured lawns, Shah Rukh's house in the movie was the epitome of luxury.

A prince without a palace won't cut it, right?

Main Hoon Na - The Cozy Home

An average student with an extremely caring mother - no, we aren't talking about Jadoo. Shah Rukh Khan played an average guy in this movie but he had all the riches that matter in life, more than rustic, homely interiors – a loving mother. Like Shashi Kapoor once famously said: “Mere paas maa hain.

Chak De India- The House of Honour

The movie revolved around a disgraced hockey star. But when Shah Rukh's character redeems himself, he returns to his roots, his small house somewhere in Delhi, with his mother. The symbolism is palpable - home is where we find the conviction to rise again.

To the King of Bollywood, here is wishing more and more of good living, both on and off screen.
