A survey by Housing.com unveils that over 40 per cent of homebuyers prefer buying a 2BHK apartment across key cities like Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and the National Capital Region. The two-bedroom units are popular among first-time homebuyers, young couples, migrant professionals moving to a new city and even investors. Of the leading cities, Chennai has witnessed one of the highest sales of 2BHK residential units in the past five months. The city clearly outshone other nerve centres of south India real estate market with new residential launches increasing by 89 per cent in the month of February. Majority of these projects belonged to the mid-segment, as per Proptiger's DataLabs report.
PropGuide lists top five localities in Chennai that are popularly known for their 2BHK apartments. These localities are ranked based on highest sales between January-June 2017.
