A modular kitchen has a modern layout which comprises of cabinets, drawers and shelves to hold the kitchen accessories in an organized manner. These kitchens offer convenience and comfort by making effective use of available space. POINTS TO KEEP IN MIND WHILE CHOOSING A MODULAR KITCHEN

Brand - Know your brand! Popular brands offering modular kitchens in India are Godrej Interio, Zuari Furnitures, Home Town, Sleek, Evok by Hindware, etc.

Design - You should plan the layout ( U-Type, C-Type or L-Type) of your modular kitchen according to your requirements. Do not go for a particular design blindly but choose according to the space available, electrical points and plumbing spots to install the sink.

Material - The cost of modular kitchen depends upon the material used in making it. Seeing the Indian style of cooking, granite is the best material for countertops whereas for cabinets and drawers; lacquered wood, aluminium marble or even steel should be preferred. Be sure that the material is water resistant and also research a bit about the effects of heat, load and friction on the material.

Appliances - Check for the brand and price of the appliances like chimney, microwave, dishwasher, etc. and choose what suits you the best. For example, the chimneys come in wide-ranging prices starting from as low as Rs. 8000 to as high as Rs 1 lac. You should opt for appliances that fit your budget and other requirements.

Apart from the developers offering modular kitchens in their projects, the companies providing such facilities are slowly growing as an organized industry. Offering ample storage and beautiful designs, modular kitchens are not only a trend but substantially needed in a country like India that's going busier by the day.
