November 17 2015   |   Katya Naidu

Noida will soon be known for street plays, open air concerts and art galleries as much as it is famous for its malls and entertainment parks. At 's Sector 94, the authorities are proposing to set up a state-of-the-art commercial cultural centre, spread across 10 acres of land. The project, being modelled to live, work and play, will encompass real estate companies, hospitality and commercial centres. Apart from these, it will also have malls, condominiums, restaurants and cafeterias.

The right tag

An area is defined by what it is known for. Many areas have become defined by their bazaars or commercial or sports centres. For example, the entire area close to the Formula 1 racing track at Greater Noida has turned the area into a sports zone. In addition to professionally run gyms, a number of sports-themed residential areas are coming up in the zone. Similar growth will be seen when the commercial district centre is developed.

Attracting artists

France capital Paris attracts artists from around the world, as the city is known to appreciate art. Building commercial art centres will do something similar to build socio-cultural set-up of a city. The beginning of ideating starts from building and planning an area that would be able to host art shows, street plays, theatre, dance shows, concerts, etc. Providing the right kind of infrastructure will attract the talent to the city and might even turn residential area for artists. It might bring in commercial business from talent scouting agencies and studios, increasing the rental value of surrounding areas.

For example, Mumbai suburb Andheri has become one such area which hosts both TV show actors and small-time actors along with talent scouting agencies, recording studios and casting agencies. Andheri has now become an area with large high-rise projects, known for its premium value homes. This manner of planned growth can help Noida's commercial business district, if it attracts the right kind of crowd.
