Online Home Buying Is Hassle-Free & Transparent, Says This Kolkata-Based Home Buyer

December 17, 2015   |   Wedita Pandey

Kolkata-based Puja Jha, a marketing executive at Mayur Ply Industries Limited, along with her husband Amar Kant Jha, who works as a general manager in the same organisation, recently bought an apartment in the city. Bought for investment purpose, what's interesting is that the deal was made using online as a medium. In conversation with Wedita Pandey of PropGuide, Jha shares her home-buying experience. Here are the excerpts from the interview:

PropGuide: Tell us something about your new home.

Jha: This is a 3BHK apartment on the third floor in Block-1 of Merlin Maximus. The project was developed by Merlin Group in Sodepur Market, BT Road, Kolkata.

PropGuide: Did you research about the project and its developer before making an investment?

Jha: We did an extensive research before we closed the deal. We explored other available options near the airport line and VIP Road, but zeroed down on this project given its location and a congruent payment plan.

PropGuide: Why did you buy this apartment, given that you reside in an apartment owned by you?

Jha: For me buying this apartment was just an investment move. The project's favourable location and the fact that it holds prospects for high returns in future, were two major reasons I planned to invest here.

PropGuide: How much did the apartment cost you? How did you manage it?

Jha: The total cost of the apartment is Rs 43 lakh. I have opted for a partial payment plan, so I can pay the entire amount by 2020. Though at present I am paying the amount from my savings, I might look at taking up a home loan if need be.

PropGuide: How was your online home-buying experience? How did PropTiger.com help you?

Jha: Our online home buying process was hassle-free and convenient, and we saved a lot of time, we otherwise would have spent searching for property. Buying a home through PropTiger.com was a wonderful experience as it helped me understand the market through surveys, locality and property description, and even the price trends. We were well-guided once we shared our budget plan with the team.

PropGuide: Does your new home meet your definition for an ideal home?

Jha: Yes, it does. I am completely satisfied with the premium amenities offered by the residential society and specifications of the apartment. Though it's still an investment, we might plan to shift here in future.

PropGuide: What is your advice to home buyers?

Jha: I would like to tell all the aspiring home buyers that if they wish to purchase a new home, they should not be reluctant in doing so online. First, figure out your basic demands from your property. If it is for investment purpose then a prime location has really good future prospects. As far as buying home online is concerned I would say go ahead, the process is very transparent. There are no hassles at all.
