In order to have a home free from pests like flies, bugs, ants, rats and cockroaches, it is important to follow some important pest control tips which will help you safeguard your home in a convenient manner. Read on, and keep pest problems at bay:

Clean your kitchen: Kitchen is the favourite spot of most pests, and it is most important to make your kitchen safe from the nasty creatures while pest-proofing your home. Ensure that all foodstuffs are stored in air-tight containers, and there are no edibles lying in the open. It is also important to keep the kitchen sink clean, and an excellent way to keep cockroaches away is to keep the drain closed when the sink is not in use.

Dispose garbage: Be sure to rid your home of garbage on a daily basis. Waste lying in the house is the first welcome sign for unwanted insects and pests, and it can also be a breeding ground for disease-causing bacteria.

Keep your home flooring clean: While it is a good idea to clean the floor every day and wash it at least once a week, any edible matter must immediately be wiped off the floor. Food items lying unattended on the floor can attract unwanted pests like mice, cockroaches and ants.

Close gaps and fissures: Believe it or not, even the smallest of cracks in the doors, walls or ceiling of your home can serve as a cosy crib for pests like ants, cockroaches and even rats. Being proactive is the key to pest control, and an important step towards eradicating pests from your home is to seal any such crevices before pests occupy it.

Pets: Pets can draw pests if proper care is not taken. Make sure that you brush and bathe your pets regularly and keep their coat clean, as it is hygienic for your pets and also helps in warding off unwanted pests that are attracted to animals. Feeding bowls for pets should also be cleaned and stored properly.
