Dombivali has its own railway station which is connected to the central line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway Network. Apart from the Dombivali Railway Station, two other railway stations are under the city's jurisdiction -- Kopar and Thakurli. Local buses within the city are operated by the Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Transport (KDMT) , while state-run buses provide services to nearby areas such as Bhiwandi and Panvel. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport or NMMT also operates buses from Dombivali to Navi Mumbai.

    Dombivali is at a distance of 20 kilometres from Thane, 50 kilometres from Mumbai and 30 kilometres from Navi Mumbai's Vashi. It has several manufacturing plants belonging to Lloyd Steel, Vicco Labs and Gharda Chemicals. The area is close to both Thane and Navi Mumbai and this makes commuting to Dombivali easy.
