Property Tax Likely To Increase In Hyderabad
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is likely to revise property tax that will impact 21 lakh residential and commercial taxpayers in the city. The property tax rate has remained unchanged in the city for over 15 years for residential properties and for over 11 years for commercial properties. The move is aimed at generating revenues for the liquidity-strapped GHMC. Property tax is one of the highest contributors to the corporation’s revenues.
According to a report published in The New Indian Express, the GHMC as against its target of Rs 1,500 crore for the financial year 2018-19, it was able to collect Rs 745 crore between April 1 and December 13 this year. The remaining Rs 755 crore needs to be collected in the next three months.
