A new census report reveals that the buildings in rural Uttarakhand are increasingly becoming "pucca structures". The report states that nearly 78.81% of the homes in Uttarakhand are now 'pucca buildings'. Out of the 14.79 lakh households in rural Uttarakhand, 11.51 lakh live in 'pucca' dwelling units. Of all the pucca dwelling structures, about 1.21 lakh structures are concrete, while 4.16 lakh are made of mortar-packed stone. Nearly 6 lakh are made of burnt bricks, and many are made of metal or asbestos sheets. Read more.
The Supreme Court allowed competitive bidding for Sahara Group's 140-acre land in Gorakhpur before a bench chaired by Justice TS Thakur. Two real estate firms raised the bid amount to the point that each of them were willing to pay Rs 150 crore for the land. The bench was hearing the trial related to the Sahara Group chief Subrato Roy, who has been in jail for over a year. Read here.
Real estate players in Punjab feel that the state government's policies are inimical to the growth of the sector. They decided to discuss this issue with the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during his visit to Amritsar. According to this report, real estate players in Punjab have many demands, including implementation of the proposal to create separate counters for issuing no objection certificate (NOCs) for unauthorized colonies.
The Noida Authority plans to join hands with a US-based leading IT company to design and implement its plan for the Smart Cities project. The IT giant made a presentation before the Noida Authority on its expertise in this area. This report says that the company was asked to submit an amended blueprint within 15 days.
