As per the new Crown Policy introduced by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, terraces of high-rise buildings in the city will now be allowed ornamental projections and architectural features. Under the policy, developers will be allowed to connect their towers with a steel beam to create recreational space for residents. Singapore's Marina Bay Sands has a sky park connecting the rooftops of its three skyscrapers, which has a large infinity pool.

After getting a go-ahead from the high court to regularise illegal buildings in its cities, the state government is now planning to regularise private houses across rural Karnataka. These will include residential farmhouses and independent houses in small towns which have been built without converting land or taking necessary permission. The move is expected to benefit about 25 lakh households and generate a revenue of around Rs 1,000 crore.

Infosys has acquired about three acres of land in Electronics City for Rs 32.5 crore from Pradot Technologies. The IT company paid about Rs 2,500 per sqft for the land parcel.

The Karnataka government recently made it clear that handwritten khatas were illegal. Following complaints of handwritten khatas being used to carry out fraudulent transactions, state minister for rural development and panchayat raj HK Patil said the government switched over to electronically generated khatas (e-khatas) three years ago. Khata is a revenue document, containing details about the size, location, built-up area of a property, besides information about tax assessment.
