The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will survey all properties to widen its tax net and check illegal construction in Mumbai.  The BMC will use the light detection and ranging technology and the video recording technology to survey properties. The Union Cabinet approved the Model Shops & Establishments Act. This may allow shops, restaurants, malls, movie theatres and other establishments to be open 24 hours, throughout the year, in all Indian cities.  The Act, however, does not apply to factories, manufacturing outlets, banks and insurance companies.
