A high-powered committee appointed by the Bombay High Court has granted an in-principle approval to the coastal road project, paving the way for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to get possession of the foreshore land. The BMC needed the approval of the committee for a 500-metre stretch of the coastal road, from Chota Chowpatty till the Princess Street Flyover, since it falls within the Marine Drive, a heritage precinct.

The Greater Chennai Corporation could begin the physical transformation process of T Nagar under the smart city project as early as next month. T Nagar was selected in 2015 under the area-based development programme of the Smart Cities Mission.

Four developers have approached the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court to challenge some provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act, 2016. They contend that provisions restricting sale of real estate, opening of escrow account, and registration of existing projects with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) are unconstitutional. The Bench has issued notices to respondents, including the union secretary for department of urban, housing and poverty alleviation and the state urban development department.

From June 1 next year, around 23,000 commercial tax payers in Chandigarh will get notices related to property tax on their mobile phones. Tax payers will also be able to pay the tax through a mobile app.
