#RealtyNewsRoundUp: DDA Receives 5,661 Requests For Surrender Or Cancellation Of Flats
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has received 5,661 requests for surrender or cancellation of the flats allotted under the housing scheme for 2017. "Most of the applicants have not provided any specific reason for surrender but some of the applicants have stated that the built-up area of the allotted flats was not up to their requirement," Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha. For the housing scheme for 2017, the DDA had received more than 46,000 applications of which 12,000 were allotted flats.

The Union Cabinet has approved the Zojila Pass Tunnel Project. The ambitious 14-km long tunnel will cut down the travel time between Srinagar and Leh from three hours at present to 15 minutes when completed. The pass will be constructed on the national highway connecting Kashmir with Kargil and Leh. The tunnel will be two-lane bi-directional and will be constructed on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode. The Rs 6,089-crore project will be constructed over a period of seven years and once completed will be the longest in Asia.

The government on January 4 launched the cleanliness survey for 2018 as a part of Swachh Bharat Mission. The Swachh Survekshan 2018 will rank 500 cities, which have more than 1 lakh population, on national level. On the other hand, it will rank 3,541 cities, with less than 1 lakh population, on state and regional level, an official release said.

The Telangana government said that it was in the process to set up two new information technology (IT) clusters. According to an official release, the State government is in discussion with more than 30 IT companies, including multinationals, to set up their operations in the proposed IT clusters. These two clusters will come in Budvel and Rajendranagar, and are expected to generate employment opportunities for about 1.25 lakh people.
