Infrastructure building has been the focus area of the Mumbai civic body. It is evident from the fact that the BMC has spent over 83 per cent of the alloted Budget for developmental activities for the first time in the recent years. According to officials, the BMC spent Rs 5,052 crore on capital expenditure against the allotted budget of Rs 6,111 crore FY18, an increase of 31 per cent when compared to FY17. It is also the highest spend on infrastructure in the past decade. Meanwhile, the BMC has managed to collect nearly Rs 5,150 crore in property taxes in FY18, a record high for a single year. However, it fell short of reaching its annual target of Rs 5,200 crore.

People living in Noida have to pay more from now on. While the charges have been increased by up to 10 per cent for low-income group flats and 80 villages, rates have been increased by up to 25 per cent for residential, industrial, institutional and commercial categories. The hiked rates come into effect from April 1—bills generated from that date would reflect the hiked rates.
