#RealtyNewsRoundup: Govt Plans Metrolite Transport System For Tier II-III Cities

The newly elected government at the Centre plans to introduce a new mass transport system called LRT-Metrolite, a dedicated rail corridor for Tier-II and Tier-III cities. The new system will run on the surface and will not elevated or underground and will cost 40 per cent cheaper when compared to the Metro corridors across major Indian cities.

The Delhi government has made travelling free for women in public transport, including Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, cluster buses and Delhi Metro. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has asked the DTC and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to submit their proposals in a week's time. The scheme is expected to be implemented in two-three months. 

The Greater Noida Authority has approved the plans to extend the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line to Sector 142 in Greater Noida. The new route will be extended from Botanical Garden Metro Station and will run parallel to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The 14-km stretch will be constructed by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation at an estimated cost of up to Rs 2,000 crore.

Ahead of the monsoons, The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has made it mandatory to conduct a structural audit on all the buildings that are over 30-years-old. The authority, under Section 355(B) of the Municipal Corporation Act, 1888, said it was obligatory for owners and residents of such buildings will have to get them inspected by qualified structural engineers.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority has introduced a new tab on its website, allowing homebuyers to file online applications for non-execution of the authority’s orders even during the 60-day period granted to the developer to proffer an appeal.

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on June 1 said that all the under-construction highway projects will be completed in the next three years. He also added that the per day deadline of road construction will be increased to 40 kilometre up from the current 32 kilometre.
