#RealtyNewsRoundup: Govt To Construct 12 Lakh New Houses Under PMAY-Urban

The Central government will construct 12 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in 2017-18, although only 1.49 lakh houses were built under the scheme in 2016-17. Under the PMAY (Urban) , the Centre targets construction of 26 lakh houses in 2018-19, 26 lakh in 2019-20, 30 lakh in 2020-21 and 29.80 lakh in 2021-22.

Within six months of the Benami Property Act coming into force, the Income Tax Department of the Kolkata circle has made a list of 300 such properties belonging to several politicians. The department has formed a special unit called the Benami Properties Unit (BPU) to identify and probe such assets. Apart from politicians, there are hundreds of such properties belonging to some top businessmen in the city.

The Affordable Housing and Slum Rehabilitation and Redevelopment Policy-2017 has been approved by the Bihar Cabinet. The policy will help the poor to own a house. According to the new policy, 15 per cent of the flats in a building spread over 4000 sqm or above of private developers will be reserved for economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income groups (LIG) .

Master architect of Amaravati, Foster+ Partners, will be submitting the final draft designs of the capital to the Andhra government. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to gear up for the execution of the capital project, especially the establishment of nine themed cities, at the earliest so that IT and other companies can begin operations.
