Come November and the system for land acquisition for highways will go online in India. The road transport ministry expects the measure to reduce by three-four months the time taken for the land-acquisition process. The entire process will go digital and eliminate chances of mistakes, and will drastically cut the time taken for verification of land titles.

The Railways is working on a proposal to create a suburban railway network for Bengaluru, much like the one in Mumbai, to decongest the city and link it to the airport. The RITES had already finalised an initial conceptual plan with drawings of how the project will look like, where the routes will be and with height and elevation details.

The chairman of a Supreme Court-mandated pollution-control body visited several construction sites in Noida and flagged violation of norms. The chairman has directed the authorities to brief real estate developers about environment guidelines next week, and initiate action if any violation is found thereafter.

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has stopped alleged illegal construction at Indirapuram Habitat Centre, a commercial hub here, and issued notice to it over non-payment of tax dues amounting to Rs 105 crore. The executive engineer of the enforcement department sealed the construction site.
