In a set of guidelines issued to all housing societies in Greater Noida, the Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) has clarified that usage charges for prepaid meters are meant exclusively for electricity and not for other tariffs such as maintenance, water or clubhouse. The body has also asked housing societies to provide monthly electricity bills to all consumers with details of charges. Each society also has to submit a half-yearly statement to NPCL on energy consumed by individual consumers and rates charged.
The Commerce and Industry Ministry is planning to sell 60,000 acres of idle salt land to public sector enterprises or state governments at market rates so that it can be utilised for productive purposes. The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion has floated a draft Cabinet note on the matter, seeking views of different ministries.
The Maharashtra government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Korea Land & Housing Corporation to build a strategic partnership for smart cities, roads and bridges, exchange of knowledge and expertise. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the collaboration would help build smart cities, the Maharashtra Samruddhi Corridor and some redevelopment projects in the state.
The world's tallest wood building measuring 174 feet in height has been constructed at the University of British Columbia in Canada, four months ahead of schedule. The 18-storey mass wood structure was completed in less than 70 days after the prefabricated components were first delivered to the site.
