The Karnataka government is launching a scheme to provide permanent houses to the urban and rural poor, who have put up temporary houses on revenue land. The Ambedkar Nivasa Scheme will be launched on April 14 to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar. The state recently amended a Bill incorporate changes in the Karnataka Land Reforms Act, 1964. The move is likely to benefit about five lakh landless labourers.
The Central government has clarified that the much-awaited Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act, 2016, will fully come into effect from May 1. It has also urged states to notify the rules and set up the regulatory authorities within the deadline.
For the second time, the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra has tweaked the relief and rehabilitation package for villagers affected by the Navi Mumbai airport project. The body has forwarded a fresh list of demands made by villagers to the Maharashtra government, say media reports.
