Maharashtra generates 15 per cent of India’s trash, with the state contributing 21,867 tonne per day (TPD) of the nation’s daily output of 1.42 lakh tonnes. However, only 6,973 tonne of the total waste generated is treated in the state on the daily basis, revealed data from EnviStats 2018, a document published by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. Uttar Pradesh, at 19,180 tonnes per day, ranks seconds in trash generations, followed by Tamil Nadu (14,500 tonnes per day) and Gujarat (10,480 tonnes per day) .

Consumers will be allowed to file complaints against unregistered real estate projects on the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) website after paying Rs 5,000 from August 16. The move follows the July 31 order of the Bombay High Court, which made it mandatory for the authority to hear complaints of consumers, irrespective of the registration status of the project concerned.

Meanwhile, the UP RERA is set to open its Bench in Greater Noida, a move that would come as a major relief for thousands of homebuyers in the national capital region.

The Supreme Court has slapped a fine of Rs 105 crore on Pune-based real estate company Goel Ganga Developers for causing environmental damage while building residential towers. The court has granted the company six months’ time to deposit the money before its registry and said all the assets of the company as well as its directors would be attached if it failed to comply with its order.

Realty giant DLF is planning to return to Hyderabad and Chennai to develop new office and residential projects. In Hyderabad, it plans to develop 2.5 million square foot (sqft) of commercial office as part of its special economic zone. In Chennai, the company will construct an additional one million sqft of office space.

Meanwhile, DLF reported a 56 per cent increase in its consolidated net profit, at Rs 172.77 crore, but a sharp decline in total income, to Rs 1,657.67 crore, during April-June quarter this financial year.
