A move that will help the it create around eight million jobs and build five lakh homes, the Maharashtra government on April 25 unveiled a new development plan for capital Mumbai. Apart from offering higher floor area ratio, the new development plan that is effective till 2034 would also unlock 2,230 hectare of no-development land in the space- crunched city for residential development.

The Supreme Court on April 25 asked Noida-based Galaxy Group, which has proposed to complete three projects of beleaguered Amrapali Group, to prove its credentials before entrusting the company with the task. "Homebuyers cannot be just thrown to a frying fan. The flat buyers should get their dues. We would like to know the profile of the individuals associated with the company, which is willing to take over the projects. The idea is to enable them wriggle out of the difficult situation. We want to be doubly assured," the SC said.

The Noida District Administration has sent notices to about 150 hotels, guest houses and paying guest (PG) accommodations that run without licences, and has given them time till April 30 to register themselves with the authority. The district administration would launch a sealing drive after that date against those who fail to follow by the directive.

After raising fares, the Delhi Metro rail Corporation (DMRC) has now decided to increase parking charges from May 1. The DMRC has decided to increase rates by a 50 per cent across different slabs, after a gap of five years. Criticising the move, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the hike in parking charges, along with the recent Metro fare hike "will completely kill the Delhi Metro".
