The Noida Authority has cleared that there are no plans to levy house tax; however, the lease rent that is paid by owners will continue. The clarification came after the Residents' Welfare Association (RWA) federation began protesting after reports were released that house tax would be charged in Noida. Noida Authority CEO Rama Raman cleared the air stating that the authority had no such plans to impose house tax in the near future. Read more
The Gujarat Assembly passed a Bill making it easier to change the use of agricultural land for non-farming purposes. The State Assembly cleared the Gujarat Land Revenue (Amendment) Bill-2016 which seeks to amend the Gujarat Land Revenue Code, 1879. The Bill introduced a clause of “multipurpose NA” by which a land owner can now change the use of land, which is already declared NA land by the collector. Read more
The Himachal Pradesh government has cancelled the lease of 28-acre land allotted to Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust at Sadhupul in Solan district. The land was allotted to the Trust in 2010. Read more
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that his government will pay Rs 1 lakh to Scheduled Tribes (STs) to build houses in villages, and Rs 2.50 lakh in cities. He also announced that the tribal students would be rewarded Rs 50,000 for achieving merit in science stream. He also added that the SC-ST students will be provided with hostels during studies. The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has identified 20 developers who are selling properties illegally. The civic authorities have demanded to lodge an FIR against the errant developers. The names of the developers have not been disclosed yet; however, GMADA sources have specified that no big names are involved in it. Read more
