#RealtyNewsRoundUp: Northeastern States Agree To Implement Real Estate Law
Nearly two years after the Real Estate Regulation Act was enacted by Parliament, six northeastern states have agreed to implement the law, paving way for protecting the interest of homebuyers in Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim. All states and Union Territories in the country had notified the rules under the law, except the six northeastern states and West Bengal.

The fire services department in Kolkata has said that skyscrapers will get their completion certificate only after they follow every safety rule mentioned by the fire department, the police and the civic authority. Fire officials have also notified the promoters of high-rises to immediately install basic firefighting equipment on every level even if the building was still under construction.

The Madras High Court has said authorities must disconnect electricity connection to buildings that are built in violation of approved plan, till the violations are rectified. Though the Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act permits regularisation of buildings, authorities cannot do so when the buildings are constructed in violation of the sanctioned plan, the HC has ruled.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) will construct 14,656 low-cost flats in two years. The authority, say officials, has already allotted work orders for construction of 6,000 of these flats.
