Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 4 inaugurated a stretch of Phase-I of the Ahmedabad Metro. After inaugurating the 6.5 km stretch, connecting Vastral to Apparel Park area, Modi also took a ride on the Metro. Upon completion, Phase-I of the Ahmedabad Metro will cover a distance of 40.03 km. After the inauguration, Modi also announced the launch of the One Nation, One Card project that would boost transport mobility. Under this project, a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) will be introduced that would enable travellers to take different Metros and other transport across the country, along with making retail purchases.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on March 3 flagged off the 11.28-km Phase-II of the Chembur-Wadala-Jacob Circle Monorail network. With this, the entire 19.54-km route of the country's first Monorail system, is now functional.

Six cities across the country have been selected as "live laboratories" for a pilot project under which the housing ministry will build 1,000 houses, using innovative technologies that are low-cost, sustainable and disaster-resistant. These cities include Rajkot, Ranchi, Indore Chennai, Agartala and Lucknow.

Gurgaon has topped a list of 62 most polluted cities in the world in a recent study conducted by environment non-governmental organisation Greenpeace India. The report, Global Air Pollution 2018, accompanies an extended online interactive display of the world's most polluted cities, allowing further exploration of air quality across different regions and sub-regions in 2018.
