Consumers wishing to raise their complaints on the Real Estate and Regulatory Authority website will have to wait till their developers register on the portal. As the Real Estate (Regulatin & Development) Act, 2016, came into effect on May 1, existing projects have been given a time limit of three months to register themselves on RERA websites of states concerned.

The Tamil Nadu government is set to bring more housing projects under the purview of the real estate law by reducing the number of units covered in the legislation. While the Central Act covers projects with nine or more units, those with five or more units constructed beyond an area of 500 square metres would be under the purview of the law in the state.

The stamps and registrations department of Maharashtra has directed real estate company Lodha Group to pay Rs 473 crore in penalty and dues for willful avoidance of stamp duty in a Rs 5,700-crore land deal in Wadala, central Mumbai, according to media reports.

Information technology company Birlasoft, part of the CK Birla Group, has leased an entire office building spread over three lakh sqft at a mixed-use project of Assotech Realty in Noida, say media reports. The lease is for nine years, with a monthly lease rental of Rs 42 per sqft.
