The Homes Sachin Tendulkar Loves
Today is Sachin Tendulkar's 44th birthday. With a net worth of $115 million, the Little Master is India's wealthiest cricketer, and this is certainly not an undeserved privilege.
For many of us, our first memory of Sachin is that of a teenager saying, “Boost is the secret of my energy”, with the legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in a 1989 advertisement. For the next quarter of a century, he became the 'God of Cricket' to cricket fans in India. It is true that no one else has electrified the pulse of a nation for such a long time.
However, this fame didn't come without its share of struggles. Sachin grew up in a middle-class residential society in Mumbai and went on to buy homes in one of the richest neighborhoods in Mumbai.
On his birthday, let us look at the homes he loves:
Tendulkar grew up in Sahitya Sahawas, a housing complex in the Kala Nagar area of Bandra East. His neighbors claim that Sachin often broke their windows while playing cricket. Sahitya Sahawas, which has a common playing ground, has 9 buildings named after Marathi poets. His father, Ramesh Tendulkar, was a Marathi poet, too. Here, Sachin lived with his family on the fourth floor of 'Ushakkal'. Tendulkar moved to a flat in La Mer Housing Society in Bandra West in 2001. Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan once lived here and Prahlad Kakkar, the ad wizard, was one of his neighbours. He received this flat under sports quota. Leaving the sports quota home for other sportsmen, Sachin moved to his bungalow in Perry Cross Road, Bandra West in 2011. Sachin built this 9,000 sq ft villa on a plot where a dilapidated bungalow named Dorab Villa stood, after buying it for Rs 39 crore. The house cost him around Rs 80 crore. The villa, where he still lives, has three stories above the ground level and two basement levels. The car parking space is large, and among other facilities, there is a swimming pool, home theatre, high-walled fencing, CCTV cameras and sensors. The ground floor has a temple, drawing and dining rooms, and displays the honors Sachin received at various points in his life.Tendulkar, in May 2016, added a super-luxury apartment in Jaypee Greens, Greater Noida, to his bouquet of real estate possessions. The Greater Noida apartment, registered in the name of his wife Dr Anjali Tendulkar, was allotted to the Tendulkars in 2010 for Rs 1.68 crore. The apartment is situated on the 21st floor of the Crescent Court. Other cricket personalities like Kapil Dev and R P Singh also have apartments here.
