November 28 2013   |   Proptiger

Photos taken over the years of family and friends on several occasions make for some of the most precious memories of our life. Displaying these photographs around the house reminds us of happy times and loving moments spent with our loved ones. If displayed thoughtfully and aesthetically, these memories can become the highlights of our home decor.

The following tips and ideas on displaying photographs around the house are easy to implement and make sure your precious memories are displayed in the most wonderful ways.

Along the Staircase, Galleries and Hallways A common sight in many households, stairwells and hallways make for an ideal spot to display photos in the house. The wall space above the staircase and in hallways and galleries is often unused, making it perfect for displaying a large collection of framed photographs. You can also use this space to put up enlarged photos and family portraits.

Black and White Magic Black and white photos have a charm of their own and give a feeling of timelessness. At times, colour photographs are dramatically enhanced when converted to black and white. Choose a space in the house exclusively for black and white prints. Hallways, staircases, dining area and drawing rooms are ideal for black and white photos especially if you have colourful décors.

Frame by Frame The kind of frame used for a photograph can effect it greatly and as such it is important to pick out nice frames. That said, you can always experiment with shapes and sizes of frames rather than sticking to the usual black and square frames. However, make sure the frame compliments and fits your photograph well. You can also put framed photos on desks, dressers and shelves.

Photos without Frames In life and in the house, there should always be room for innovation! Think out of the box for unconventional and quirky display ideas for your photos apart from the usual framing. For example, take a string or a ribbon and clip small prints of photographs on it with a clothespin. You can put up this string wherever you fancy and you can also change the photographs every once in a while. You can also pin up photos on a pin board in the kitchen, study or kids’ room.
