This route will also have the first under-water Metro tunnel that will lead to Howrah. This old locality has well-established social and civic infrastructure.

Joka

Another locality on the Kolkata Metro map, Joka is an emerging and affordable real estate market. It is located in the south-west of Kolkata and houses the Indian Institute of Management. The locality is still in a developing stage and offers property at affordable prices. The locality also has a number of educational institutions and healthcare centres.

Property profile: Joka has projects from all the leading developers, including Godrej, Merlin, Solaris and many more. The most common configurations are 2 and 3BHK apartments, which are available at a starting value of Rs 35 lakhs. 

Barasat

Livability score: 7.5

Average price: Rs 2,732 per sq ft

Located on the outskirts of the north of Kolkata, Barasat is an emerging locality offering properties at affordable rates. The locality will soon be connected to the Kolkata international airport through a Metro network (Line-4) . This development will fuel demand for properties here, escalating property prices.

Property profile: Apart from apartment projects, there are a number of villa projects in the area, which homebuyers can explore. The starting price for a 2BHK apartment here is Rs 26 lakhs.
