#WeeklyNewsRoundUp: Maharashtra approves Mumbai Metro Line-4 Extension To Gaimukh

The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the Rs 949-crore Kasarvadavali-Gaikmukh Metro route (Metro-4A) , which will cut the travel time between south Mumbai and neighbouring Thane. Part of the 32-km Wadala-Ghatkopar-Mulund-Thane Kasarvadavali corridor, the 2.7-km extension will ensure that the entire Ghodbunder Road in Thane is connected by the Metro network.

Meanwhile, the stretch between Lajpat Nagar and Mayur Vihar Pocket-1 on the Delhi Metro’s Pink Line will open for public on December 31.

The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) may take its Phase-II project to Tirumazhisai, where a satellite township has been in the making for two decades. If the plan is materialised, the Metro would go past engineering colleges in the region, proving major relief to students. Planned at an estimated cost of Rs 2,160 crore, the township will have 12,000 flats on 311 acres of land of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board.

The upcoming Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be extended up to the Ring Road near the DND flyway as the National Highway Authority of India has approved the plan to build a six-lane, access-controlled road from the Western Peripheral Expressway (WPE) near Sohna that would also provide a fast link to Manesar from east and south Delhi. The 59-km stretch will include construction of the much-delayed Kalindi Kunj bypass in Delhi, revamp of the Faridabad bypass and a new stretch that will connect the Delhi-Agra highway with the WPE.

Car buyers in the national capital will have to a pay higher one-time parking charge in 2019 as the Delhi Transport Department has decided to hike rates across the three municipal corporations. The one-time charges will now range between Rs 6,000 to Rs 75,000, based on the cost of a vehicle.
