June 15, 2016   |   Anindita Sen

As the floor areas ratio in the national capital is kept low, most residential apartments here are four-storey constructions. A look at the advantages and disadvantages if you have a house on any of the floors in such apartments.

 The ground floor

In a four storey-building, developers generally charge a higher price if you want to buy a house on the ground floor, for advantages of having a house on this floor are many. While ground floor houses are best suited for families which have aging parents or young children, exiting the building would also be easier in case of an emergency situation. What else? When you have to shift, loading and unloading of your things is much easier. Also remember that a house on the ground floor will be cooler during the summers. The only problem on having a house on the ground floor that it could hinder your privacy, apart from the fact that the house will be more exposed to dust.

The first floor

Most buyers prefer to have a house on the first floor of a building and that makes them comparatively expensive. This is because a house on the first floor provides you moderate height, while lessening your house's exposure to dirt and dust.

The second floor

When compared to the two floors we spoke of, prices of a house on the second floor of a building will be less. These days, most couples prefer this floor for the privacy they offer, apart from being more affordable.

The third floor

After the first floor, this is the floor which sees the highest demand among home buyers. Why? If you have a house on the top floor, you get to have the roof-top exclusively to yourself; the house's exposure to dirt, dust and insects is limited; you receive plenty of light and wind; you enjoy privacy that no other floor in your building will provide.
