Museum of Contemporary Art - Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Designed by Oscar Neimeyer, a globally acclaimed architect, the Museu de Arte Contemporânea or MAC is a futuristic looking art museum which overlooks a huge 8000+ square feet reflection pool. When seen from a distance, the museum resembles a space ship. A popular attraction in Rio de Janeiro, the Museum of Contemporary Art is frequented by tourists for the rich collection of contemporary art that it houses. It is also equally famous for its strange design and thrilling views of the surrounding area including the Guanabara Bay and Sugarloaf Mountain.

Kansas City Library - Missouri, USA: Kansas City’s most peculiar architecture is the city’s central library itself, which has a fascia designed in the form of a bookstand. The bookshelf-shaped wall, which covers one side of the parking area of Kansas City’s central library has a stack of popular titles on it. These titles were decided upon by the members of the library community, and include popular books like Catch 22, Silent Spring, A Tale of Two Cities and Romeo and Juliet.

Guggenheim Museum - Bilbao, Spain: Commissioned to legendary Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry, the Guggenheim Museum in Spain is an iconic example of innovative design. The museum, which houses an exquisite art collection within its curved walls is surely one of the strangest buildings in the world. The rippling structure was made using materials like titanium and glass, and received immediate attention when it was launched in the year 1997. The best view of the museum can be seen from the Nervion River flowing through the city of Bilbao.

Rotating Tower - Dubai, UAE: Dubai is known for its outstanding innovations when it comes to construction, and the upcoming Rotating Tower will be yet another architectural marvel in this posh emirate. Believe it or not, the Rotating Tower shall actually be a spinning structure! Every floor of this 80 storey tower shall have the functionality of rotating at a speed of 6 metres per minute. The Rotating Tower is being designed by David Fisher, and the completion date of this mix-use development is yet to be announced.

Cathedral of Brasilia (Brazil): Yet another marvellous work of architecture by Oscar Neimeyer, the Cathedral of Brasilia is a remarkably designed hyperbolic structure which towers 40 metres high as a house of worship in Brasilia. The cathedral is constructed of concrete and a fiberglass roof which offers the illusion of an open sky, and is lined with statues of four evangelists – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, at its entrance.
