Even if you have planned so well that you can completely imagine your new home to be decked up, but you end up baffled when you actually start looking for things you fancy for your new home.

1. Furnish it the Best Way
For your new home, you will need wooden as well as furnished furniture. Take these points in mind before buying furniture:
- Check for the quality of wood used. Hardwood is the costliest but it is susceptible to scratches. Composite wood is inexpensive but not durable as it is not entirely wood but a mixture of wood pulp, plastic, resin and other scrap.
- Go for firm cushions that have extra padding as they hold up for a longer span. Cushions with removable and reversible covers wear out evenly as you can flip them after sometime.
- Never go for nailed or glued joints. Ask for dovetail joints (interlocking teeth) or the narrowed end of the leg inserted into the hole in the base of the furniture.
- Choose the colour according to the size of home and style of decor. Go for neutral colours as you will hardly get bored of them. Do not choose colours that make the room look smaller.

2. Shop for Appliances
Confused about which appliances to buy for your new home? First of all, jot down the problems you faced with your old stuff so that you check those aspects in detail now. Remember it's not like a dress or a rug that you can easily replace; it's a big purchase and should be perfect. To save you from facing a buyer's remorse, here are a few tips:
- If you don't want to see your house congested with appliances, buy stuff that suits the size of your house.
- Know your needs. Just because you watch master chef does not mean you are one. Your family has only 4 people, so you are not going to need that three-level oven for your kitchen.
- Ask about the technicalities related to the appliance and how often would it need repairs. Also learn about the warranty period.
- Read the instructions carefully before installing the appliance.

3. Spruce up the Interiors
Furnishing the house and installing the appliances is not the end. You need to put some extra efforts to make your house look adorable. This includes putting up the curtains, draperies cushion covers, plants for your balconies or terrace, etc. Plan your own space. For example- just 3 cushions on the sofa may look boring; setting up 5-6 cushions or pillows in a random manner would add dynamism to the decor. Choose the lighting according to your needs. If you have a library in the house, bring it to life by putting together your favourite books in the shelves. You can also put a rocking chair in the area to give it a relaxing feel. Put the carpets and rugs in places and you are ready for the final decor.
4. Give your home its final touch
The way you decorate your home, it's an extension of your attitude and feelings. If you have an aesthetic taste, go and shop for paintings and antiques that suit your decor. You can also add grace to your home with chandeliers, vintage style clocks, musical instruments, indoor plants, mirrors, etc. Using wallpapers to decorate those lonely walls would also do the trick.
Once you are done with everything, you can finally unpack and assemble your old stuff along with the new ones. A perfect home requires a perfect planning. So go ahead and shop. Happy homemaking!
