The central government has suggested that it will not resort to a joint session of the parliament to pass the Land bill. In this report, union minister for law and justice D V Sadananda Gowda also said that the government does not want a confrontationist attitude with the opposition. "We are in a federal system and the views of the states are sacrosanct in an issue such as this for it is ultimately the state governments that have to implement its provisions," he noted.
