Under the revised building bye-laws for the city, real estate and construction projects in Delhi will now get government approvals within 30 days through an integrated online single window approval process. The new bye-laws also integrate environmental clearances with the building sanctioning process, reduce the number of documents for building permits and completion and occupancy certificates for green buildings. Read more

The DDA has decided to modify the Delhi Urban Heritage Foundation Regulations, 1999, to safeguard "tangible and intangible heritage" of the city. According to officials, the move is aimed at promoting restoration and reuse of buildings notified by municipal corporations. If you are waiting for the Uttar Pradesh government to announce an affordable housing scheme, then your wait may get longer. Twenty-six out of the 32 development authorities, including those in Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra and Varanasi could not acquire a single inch of land to fulfil housing needs of people this fiscal ending tomorrow. The UP housing and urban planning department records show that as against a target of 2,000 hectares for the fiscal, the civic bodies were able to acquire 67 hectares, which is barely 3 per cent of the target achieved.
