#RealtyNewsRoundup: Govt Launches Global Technology Challenge To Build Homes Faster

Housing Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on January 14 launched the Global Housing Technology Challenge among stakeholders, a move aimed at introducing best technologies that seek to construct houses in a shorter period of time with lower costs. Under the initiative launched under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban, the government will hold an expo-cum-conference in March where stakeholders will showcase their best technologies to build houses.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Administration has recovered pending dues worth Rs 1 crore from two developers on January 14 after it attached the accounts of these firms. The accounts of Supertech and Mahagun were attached by the revenue department in connection with a recovery certificate issued against them by the Real Estate Regulatory Authority.

The Supreme Court on January 14 asked the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to explain why it had not taken action against unauthorised constructions in Dwarka despite the issue being flagged by the court-mandated monitoring committee on sealing. The report had highlighted the issue of unauthorised constructions in Sector 7, where residential plots were converted into showrooms, restaurants and gyms.

Meanwhile, the top court has also extended till July 31 the deadline for Kant Enclave house owners in Faridabad to vacate their premises. Properties of these owners would be demolished as they illegally occupy the forest area of the Aravallis.

The Tamil Nadu government plans to launch a pilot project near Chennai to pool land for a residential project before it finalises the state land pooling policy. For the pilot project, the state has identified land parcels between Vandalur and Kundrathur.
