#RealtyNewsRoundUp: Income Tax Department Notifies New Scheme For Serving E-Notices
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has notified a new centralised communication scheme for serving e-notices to taxpayers as part of the government's ambitious plan to usher in a countrywide paperless system of an interface between the taxman and the assessee. The scheme stipulates that an internet-based independent centralised communication centre (CCC) be established in the department that will "issue notice" to any person (under Section 133C of the Income Tax Act), who is required to furnish information or documents, for the purpose of verification, to the taxman.

A five-judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court would hear on March 6 a contentious issue that had cropped up due to conflicting views of different Benches of the apex court in matters relating to land acquisition. The issue had came to fore on February 21, when a three-judge Bench had virtually stayed the operation of a verdict delivered on February 8 by another three-judge Bench of the top court which had held that compensation not availed of within a stipulated five-year period would not be a ground for cancellation of land acquisition.

Delhi’s draft area parking plan has recommends shared parking to be adopted by all future residential and commercial projects in the city, factoring in scarcity of land and its growing demand for various purposes. The Delhi Transport Department has put the draft in public domain for suggestions. Noting that land is a finite resource and there are a number of pressing requirements to be met in the city, such as affordable housing, neighbourhood parks and community facilities, the draft says that public land cannot be provided for only parking of private vehicles in stand-alone structures.

To speed up development works in all unauthorised colonies, the irrigation & flood control department of the Delhi government has directed imposition of penalty on contractors for any delay in completing projects. The department has asked officials to take steps to ensure that all projects, which are being executed, are completed within the timeline prescribed in the work order. The move came a day after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directed officials to speed up the pace of the development works in unauthorised colonies.
