#RealtyNewsRoundUp: Jaypee Gets More Time To Deposit Rs 125 Cr

The Supreme Court on December 15 granted time till January 25 next year to embattled real estate company Jaiprakash Associate to deposit Rs 125 crore more for safeguarding the interests of hassled homebuyers. The company had to deposit this amount by December 31. The Supreme Court has now posted the matter for further hearing on February 1 next year.

The National Green Tribunal has restrained the Delhi Development Authority, the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation and other local authorities from awarding work for commercial projects till they identified alternative landfill sites in the city. The green tribunal also came down heavily on these authorities for not putting forward any constructive suggestion to resolve the issue of waste management.

The National Green Tribunal on December 15 imposed a complete ban on plastic items such as carry bags, plates and cutlery in towns located on the banks of the River Ganga. A Bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar also banned the sale, manufacture and storage of such items till Uttarkashi. The green tribunal also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 those violating the order.

The Haryana government has said it would introduce a professionally managed city bus service in Gurgaon to promote public transport and reduce people's dependency of private vehicles. Under the project, 500 new buses will be deployed in the city.
