Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government would bring an ordinance to regularise nearly 40,000 illegal houses in the state. The chief minister said the ordinance will be issued in the assembly's monsoon session in July and the cut-off period for illegal structures to qualify for the regularisation will be February 2014. The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has said that it has decided to replicate the financial model of the Kochi Metro and operational management strategies from the Chennai Metro. A four-member NMRC team will go these cities for a study tour to learn their methods and implement them on the 30-km Noida-Greater Noida Metro project, which is expected to be opened to public in March 2017. The Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Association of India's Belagavi unit in Karnataka, which had adopted the Rakaskop reservoir in the city for de-siltation as part of its social commitment, began its work recently. Taking opportunity of draught, the district authority has decided to take up the de-silting works of lakes and reservoirs in association with various private organization and firms. In a recently held meeting, Belagavi Deputy Commissioner N Jayaram had appealed to the developers' body to take-up the de-siltation work to address water issues in the city. Read more
